Leonardo Calderon
Research Intern, Summer 2021
About
My name is Leonardo Calderon and I reside on Chicago’s southwest side. I am a first-generation college student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences on the pre-dental track. Biology has always
been an interest of mine since I could remember. Although I am pursuing dentistry as a career goal, ecology fascinates me in the way that it brings all the sciences into one large picture. I largely contribute my interest in ecology to my older sister who works as a wildlife biologist. As a first-generation Mexican-American, one of my goals is to be a role model to future generations and bring more Latinx representation into the STEM field.
