Each summer CIM²AS instructors attend a week long summer workshop to develop learning modules based on aspects of monarch and milkweed biology and chemistry. The workshop is designed to build an integrated curriculum and develop a faculty community that understands and promotes inclusive learning. The 2021 summer workshop was held July 6-10 and included instructors from several high schools, colleges and universities. Instructors engaged with one another as well as participate in dialogues with the Latino Cultural Center, discussing the intersection between Latinidad and the sciences. The summer 2021 workshop was partly virtual and partly in person, and ended with a field trip to Humboldt Park to learn about the milkweed research being conducted by Dr. David Zaya and the CIM2AS interns.
