Summer Research Internship
Overview
CIM²AS (Cultural Immersion in Monarchs & Milkweeds Advancing Science Education) is an NSF-funded program at UIC that aims to increase the success of Latinx students in biology and chemistry majors. As part of the program, CIM²AS supports an undergraduate summer research experience that investigates reasons for the decline of monarch butterflies by testing habitat utilization by monarch butterflies in the Chicago region. Research activities include experimental milkweed plantings and field sampling. Students will also explore connections between cultural assets and science through activities with the Latino Cultural Center. CIM²AS summer research internships will be awarded to 6 students in 2024.
Interns will receive a $5000 stipend and campus housing. The 2024 internship program runs for 8 weeks, from June 10 to August 3.
